Yuta Higuchi (M1) presented his research titled "Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Black-Box Optimization Methods in Weather Intervention Design" at the Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2025, held from May 25 to May 30 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
This conference brought together a wide range of research in Earth and planetary sciences under the banner of JpGU. While I had some background knowledge in meteorology, I was a complete novice in many of the other fields represented. Still, I enjoyed the poster sessions, especially those related to machine learning and data analysis.
I was initially worried about the two-hour poster session—wondering if I would have enough engagement to fill the time—but many attendees stopped by and showed interest in my work. I was able to have meaningful discussions throughout nearly the entire session, making it a very productive experience.
In the evening, I took a walk around the nearby ZOZO Marine Stadium. Exploring the city has definitely become one of the highlights of attending academic conferences!
