Mr. Higuchi (M1) presented his work titled “Comparative Analysis of Black-Box Optimization Methods for Weather Intervention Design” at the 11th WMO Scientific Conference on Weather Modification, held from November 3 to 7 at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune, India.

I had the opportunity to participate in an international conference focused on weather modification and present my poster. Although there were few researchers specializing in control or optimization, I received valuable questions and feedback from meteorological experts from various perspectives.
Through other presentations, I also realized how active weather modification research is around the world—some countries conduct hundreds of seeding experiments annually, and startup companies are driving technological innovation. It was inspiring to witness such global efforts firsthand. I hope that my research on weather intervention optimization will one day contribute not only in Japan but also globally.
The conference was held in Pune, India. Honestly, I was a bit nervous at first, but aside from a minor stomach ache, I had a wonderful experience (it might be tough for those sensitive to spices!). The local researchers were incredibly friendly, and I spent a lot of time with them during lunches and dinners. I sincerely hope to meet them again someday.
